March
(19)
March 28th, 1865. Painting by G.P.A. Healy. The image doesn't convey any sort of Peace plans but rather a war time strategy to end the war.The Hampton Roads Peace Conference taken place earlier in Jan. 1865, could be considered "Peacemaking" since it was a tête-à-tête with enemy representatives. It was the first time Pres. Lincoln had met Gen. Sherman.
